Muscat Oasis Blast: Blast Probing and Repairs Begin

A blast speculated to be caused by cooking gas leakage and compressed air on Saturday had put many Muscat Oasis residents worried that another blast might happen at any time. The blast at the portion of the building left eight injured. Workers of the project stated that they were working in the first floor of the building at 9 AM when a sudden blast happened.

The management suspended the gas supply immediately after the blast. Residents were told to dine outside the residences.

Investigators state that the cause of the blast might be because of the compressed air conditioning ducts in the apartments. Due to extreme air pressure, the freon gas inside the the conditioning ducts might have burst the pipes. However, this theory is still subject for examination.

Another theory is that the blast might be triggered by the heating of some chemical or metal that created the pressure. This can cause the explosion and collapse the structure of the building. A huge part of the building collapsed due to the explosion because of its unified “common” walls.

The Muscat Oasis Residences stated that the staff is working with Royal Oman Police in investigating how the entire disaster might have happened. The staff states that they always pass regular checks and have their licenses for all their services and equipment approved yearly. They are also annually inspected by fire safety departments.

The staff and its company are making a survey of their own to investigate how much expenses and losses they must compensate for the said accident.
